Before you move ahead with the following steps, ensure that you have completed the basic printer setup. This will include the unboxing of the printer, installation of cartridges, loading paper, and turning on the printer. The steps will vary based on the Canon printer model.

Select the Wifi option

  • To start, turn On the printer and wait until it finishes performing cleaning, print head alignment, or other processes; when the sound stops, go to the control panel.
  • On the control panel of your printer, look for the Wireless icon; press and hold till the light blinks.

Download and run the setup software on Mac

  1. Open the Canon official website
  2. Download the software that is compatible with your Mac.
  3. Click on the Download option.
  4. Save the downloaded file to your preferred destination.
  5. Once the download completes, double-click the Setup icon to start the setup program.
  6. Click Open and then select Next.
  7. Enter your user name and password.
  8. Click Install Helper.
  9. Click Start Setup.

  • Allow exceptions into the firewall.
  • If connected to VPN, disconnect from it and reconnect.
  1. Now, the IJ Scan Utility will be downloaded and installed, which takes a few minutes.
  2. Click Add Printer on the next screen.
  3. Select the Canon printer name in the Kind column.
  4. Move to the Use field and click the dropdown arrow and select AirPrint or Secure AirPrint.
  5. Click on Add.
  6. In the Add Printer window, click Next to move on.
  7. Click Next on the Test Print screen.
  8. Select Next on the Complete Setup screen.
