Canon PIXMA G4180 Drivers

Canon PIXMA G4180 Drivers » Canon is a well-known brand in the world of photography and printing. They have an extensive catalogue of printers to meet the needs of general consumers and businesses. They make inkjet and laser, colour and monochrome printers and have a large selection at affordable prices. With their experience in photography, their printers are usually the top choice for casual and professional photo printing, as they tend to offer superior colour quality than their competitors.

The Canon PIXMA G4180 is a multitasking printer that can print, scan, copy, and fax. It can also print efficiently thanks to its easy-to-refill ink tanks.

Operation is also practical; you can use a smartphone, laptop, or through the panel on the front of the printer without connecting to other devices. The following is a review of the Canon Pixma G4180, starting with unboxing and installation.

The Canon PIXMA G4180 printer package is quite heavy, around 7 kg. When opened, it contains one printer unit, four ink bottles, three cables, two print heads, a Driver CD, and, of course, the manual book. The three available cables include a power cable, RJ 422 cable, and USB type-B 2.0 to USB type-A cable.

Despite its considerable weight, the printer design does not take up much space and is suitable for placement anywhere. Its dimensions are 416 x 337 x 212 mm. The tray for placing the paper to be printed is at the back of the printer and can be adjusted in size to fit the legal paper.

The maximum width for printing is 216 mm, and it can print without edges. The maximum capacity of this tray is 100 sheets of plain paper and 20 sheets of photo paper.

Key Features

  • Efficient printing
  • Multifunctional for printing, copying, scanning, and faxing
  • Practical printing directly from a smartphone
  • Ink installation is impossible to mix up because the bottle heads have different patterns.

Canon PIXMA G4180 Drivers Specs

At the top of the printer is a tray for placing paper that will automatically be copied or scanned in large quantities. This tray can hold up to 35 sheets of document paper. Just below the paper tray is a space to hold the output of the copied or scanned paper. If this part is lifted, there is a scanner surface for manual scanning.

Below that, there is space for mounting the print head and ink tanks in each corner. The black ink tank is at the front left corner, and the three colour ink tanks are at the right corner. The tank contents are easy to see from the clear-coloured part of the container, so you can tell when the ink is about to run out.

On the front of the printer is a panel for direct control of the printer. On the front left is the power button to turn the printer on and off. The button to display the QR code on the panel is below the power button.

Again, below is the button to connect the printer to a smartphone. Moving to the right, there is a button to display the Home menu on the panel and an ‘Undo’ or back button below it. Next to it, there is a 1.3-inch monochrome LCD panel for displaying the menu.

Moving to the right of the LCD, a numpad can be used to enter the facsimile destination number. Furthermore, to its right are two Start button options, black and white on top and colour underneath.

A Stop button on the far right can stop the operation, such as when the paper is concerned. A tray for ejecting printouts is at the bottom of the printer.

Two RJ 422 ports are located at the rear to support facsimile functions on the PSTN telephone network. The power port and USB type-B 2.0 port are on the rear-facing side.

Printer Installation

Remove all sealing tapes on the printer, then attach the power cord and connect it to the power source. Then, please turn on the printer and open it to install the print head. The package has two print heads, one for black and one for colour. Install the print head according to the slot in the print head compartment.

After that, the ink tanks were filled with four different tanks, each coloured black, cyan, yellow, and magenta. Uniquely, each head of the GI71 ink bottle has a distinct pattern, so it will not be confused when pouring ink. Of course, the bottle design is also spill-proof.

This printer’s connectivity options are complete, either directly to the USB port or with Wi-Fi. In this review, the laptop was powered to the printer using a USB cable. Meanwhile, the smartphone was connected to the printer wirelessly with Wi-Fi using the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app.
